When the NTIBN membership assessment team has verified your application you will receive immediate recognition through provisional certification. This means that there is no wait period between this step and the NTIBN Board ratification of your certification. You can immediately access member benefits during your provisional period and tender for work as a certified Aboriginal business.

An Aboriginal Business Enterprise is a business or community organisations that meets the following criteria:
. Is 51% or more Aboriginal owned;
. That is operating as a business, including companies, incorporated associations, sole traders, partnerships, trusts and social enterprises or registered charities if they are operating as a business;;
.Can demonstrate that Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people are involved in the daily operation of the Enterprise and have effective control at least equal to the degree of ownership; and;
. Is registered with a Certifying authority.
